You should try the reduction with electrolytic iron powder and ammonium chloride. reaction medium can be just water.
In your case, i.e. with sulfuric acid and electrolytic iron powder, you might try to isolate your compound by steam distillation, in case you have the apparatus. In anycase, you can always codistill your amino phenol with water, and separate later on.
